any history on your springer?? any photos??? what shape is it in? I just rebuilt the fuel system on my springer and maybe next weekend we may have some noise from the beast.
Hey Whipper, you can see the "Country Bumpkin" in these shots that 6x6World member "Techfx" posted up a while back. It was the turquoise blue color machine. In the second picture you can just see a corner of the nose of it. Did you ever see it win a race at any of the races you were at? I have a feeling that we will be seeing pictures very similar to these in Ashtabula next year

We quit racing in '74 & of the springers we saw racing then, the Country Bumpkin was not one of them. These are the first pics of it that we've seen.
Don, will we be seeing the "Bad-A$$" at Ashtabula next year?
Whipper, now that you mention it, I think the 'Bumpkin must have been a later built racer because painted on it was "1994 Champion" or something along those lines, so it most likely didn't appear until after you got out of racing.

Don, I don't know who was the pilot for the 'Bumpkin, but I do recall seeing a tag on the side of it from a metal and fabrication shop in Pennsylvania. I guess that place professionally built it, but I don't know the name of the shop off hand or who they actually built it for. I'll check the next time I see it and let you know.

I just emailed Mike an old 3 and 4 wheel action article from 1988 w/ the six wheel race at Ashtabula that year to put in the literature section - including the bumpkin (on the front cover). I know they got some of my cousin's names mixed up in the article but, it does list the driver of the bumpkin and some other info. If it's not up later today, I'll have to get that info off my other computer.
Thanks Mike and Mike, seeing that magazine just made my day! I think we'll need to get some more exposure for 6 wheelers when we're racing at Ashtabula next summer by having some 4 wheeler magazine people there to see what REAL machines can do!
