  • Terra Jet, rear axle removal

My buddy is trying to resurrect an old Terra Jet and his last major hurdle is to remove the rear axle to change a worn bearing in the transmission. He has removed every set screw that he can find and has built special pullers but the shaft will not budge. I remember reading once that someone had a repair manual for a Terra Jet and was hoping for some help. I think he must have missed something and was hopeful someone might help. He's done a tremendous amount of work thus far and has only this bearing to replace to complete the restoration . Any help would be appreciated.

Dunno but did he try pulling it borh ways? I fought for a while on an axles once. Spent a good hour on it. Went to the other side and pulled the axle out by hand. It was tapered. Dont know if this is the case but at least someone replied to ur post lol

I have rebuilt a TJ to my know the rear axel is not tapered though the tranny section however there is a large key that might be binding you up,
its easer to remove the axel in the direction opposite side of the 4x4 sprocket and chain tunnel.

Good luck with your TJ, Hard work at first with the rust etc. but once you get thyem apart there pretty basic.
