I just discovered that the factory put the wrong sticker on the air cleaner...... it is actually the EH65 22 HP motor. Pretty easy way to gain some more power and torque!! I am going to call and get the correct sticker. By the way thank you!!!!!!

i have rebuilt mine and now have bolts holding the hubs on the axles not pins
i have reinforced the hubs with double the wall thickness and 2 bolts per hub
these are heavy machines and they tend to break pins or bolts.
I have a 52 hp geo metro in mine and so far seams very reliable
and its fast too

Almost done!! I had to build a motor mount to raise the motor so the starter would clear the T20. I could not use the stock seat because of clearance problems with the muffler. Also I am 6'3" and I did not have knee room. I had to build a throttle cable bracket and a seat mount for a tractor seat. Comet makes belts for use with their clutches so I was able to get a belt that fits. I bought a Subaru remote control box, wiring kit and hour and tach meter. Wiring is all done....... all I have left to do is put the drive belt on, add gas and oil and it is time to fire this thing up.
I agree on all counts. The first take on them by most people are that they are large, and ugly. They're right on both counts. Beyond that, they're a fantastic performer and far more agile/capable than anyone suspects. They obviously benefit from the typical mprovements that any 30+ year-old machine would, but what a fantastic platform to start from....
DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Took The Fox out for a ride in the field across from my house. I must say it runs like a top! I still don't fit..... had to add pads for my knees. The motor is a beast..... when you up the RPM the torque builds and there is a push you back in the seat feeling. Needless to say I am pleasantly surprised at the power. I don't know what top speed will be but I think it will be pretty good for an old machine. The Subaru tech told me I can gain about 4-5 hp with a jet change, but I have to wait until the warranty is up. I guess I built another hot rod! Thanks to all of you who gave me support and guidance through this fun build!!!!!! My final cost is nearing $6000 but the machine is really a new oldie. This was my winter project..... ????
That turned out great! Thanks for sharing the build and the final cost. You have got a better-than-new machine that you can go out and have fun with. It looks cool, it's a tank and it's going to be reliable. I hope you have years of fun out of it.
