Got the Jiger home

Hey everyone,
a little background:
I've been a lurking on the site for quite a while. I had a couple of Wedges that I never got to run. I got rid of them when my family and I moved to New Mexico from Texas due to a job transfer. My father bought a Jiger Versatrek years ago.

He never got it running before he passed away in 2012. Over the next few years it sat in an old dilapidated garage that was falling down around it.

My job transferred me BACK to Texas and this year I was FINALLY able to get up to New York and check out the Jiger. It was the only thing not stolen out of the old garage after he passed away. I was able to get it picked up and shipped home and it arrived today!

here are a couple of photos. the first is as it sat for YEARS. The second is after I got it home and spent an hour or two cleaning it out.

I believe the machine is 100% complete less 2 tires which were rotted beyond use which Dad pulled off to get the thing to roll. Looks like it's got 2 Walbro SDC 21-85 carbs on it. I think I can get a couple of rebuild kits off ebay. It will also need a length of chain for the right side center wheels, a spark plug and a new throttle cable. the drive train has ZERO rust and rolls freely!

There's a hole in the bottom of the tub where the rear axle bracket has broken through. Does anyone know what this machine is made from?? It splintered like fiber glass and someone during it's history patched up a couple other small holes on the bottom of the tub as well.

The family history that this machine has is very cool and the lack of rust is impressive. I look forward to watching you get it going. The body should be made of fiberglass.

Dang thats really cool. I had been looking at jigers for a while before i got my penguin and terra tiger. I am happy to see more people here in texas with vintage aatvs rather than a 10,000$ ranger or mule haha. That machine is very nice but you might want to go ahead and replace all chains and check all the bearings due to its age. What part of texas are you from?
