What is my Basket Case - I could use some suggestions

Good Day, I just just formally joined the board and posted my intro..

I feel a little bad asking for help already, but I need some suggestions on who made the basket case I picked up.. I have searched the galleries and looked at all the historical brochures, but can't identify it.

Seller called it a 1974 Argo, but I have not been able to find any data that suggests that is correct. It had a Honeywell JLO motor that previous owner said lost spark and he did not have the tools/knowledge to fix. He started to repower with a Polaris 440 from a late 90s sled.

I have already started to repair by using common motor sports and industrial parts where I can.. Fixed shear pins, rollers, chains and tensioners, got the Polaris motor running. LOTS left to do to get thing right and safe.

Here are a few pics of the machine, any ideas? I'm really interested in knowing what it is..

This one tripped me up. When I first saw it I thought we had a brochure of it in the literature section of the forum but we didn't. However, I did find it in the gallery, posted by jpswift1. It is an Arkat. trebmaster also had a couple of photos:

Thank you greatly.. Time to get learning.. Make a plan and see how many times I fail and have to 'update' my plan..


I'll try to post pictures and lessons learned on my adventure, read on others experiences and hopefully avoid the pitfalls.. or at least fall in to them with style..

No problem. I think we all love unique machines and it's always fun trying to figure out what they are. I really like the way this one looks. It's got a sporty look to it. I don't know how heavy duty the drivetrain is but having a T20 is a great start. Good luck with your rebuild. I look forward to watching your progression.
