  • New 6x6!!!

Alright well i finally got myself a new 6x6, not much yet. Its going to need some work but the price was right. I payed 450 bucks for a running scrambler and a not running attex. There pretty rough but will hopefully look a lot better when i get done with the fiberglass work, and a new paint job.

I do have one question though. The guy put a brand new 8hp honda motor in it. It has Decent power but it really bogs down when you turn or touch the brakes when going up a hill. Do you think i need more horsepower? And if so what would you recommend.

    Thanks!

Switching to different tires will help a lot with the turning. I haven't ever heard of a 8 horse Honda but 8 is kinda small. I would first make sure the cvt is working right. And make sure the belt is good. A worn belt will hurt the performance greatly on any cvt style machine.

CVT (Constantly Variable Transmission) is the Belt transmission that connects the Engine to the Transmission (like in snowmobiles). It keeps the engine as close to it's optimal RPMs as possible, and also acts as a clutch.

          No need to be sorry.
The constant variable transmission works with ratio's of the 2 pulleys. If the belt gets worn out it in a way gears everything up. Kind of like taking off in second gear of a car/truck. You just loss the low end power making it seem a lot weaker. At a idle or when the engine is off, the belt should ride pretty low in the engine clutch also called the drive clutch/primary clutch. It should sit real high in the secondary clutch/driven clutch. Thats the one on the trans.
          Hope it helps.

Im way over due for a good romping in my attex.

For engines, if price is a issue I have been very happy with my ebay bought 16hp power max honda copy. Was under $400 new and shipped with the electric start and runs great. Few problems I have they took care of for free. Its not a briggs vanguard though but I am very happy with it. If you have the funds I would recommend the briggs vanguard series with 14-31hp. I have only had experients in the 16 and 18hp models and I love them. Just a great smooth running design. If you want a 2 stroke then maybe Don or someone else can help you there because I only really know my 340 rupp. Thats my 2 cents.
