  • Winch on a scrambler?

I have a 1964 scrambler, I would like to put a winch on it.
There is no good place to mount it. (or any place
that i feel safe mounting it) This is what i was
thinking. Hang with me as i try to explain this, :-)

I want to run a peice of 1.5-2.0 inch of square steel along the bottom of the AATV.
Since im not really interested in taking this thing in the water i was just going to bolt that
piece of steel to the 2 steel plates in the front that the axles are connected to. and run that piece right out the front of
the 6x6 then bolt a big d-ring or something to that. I don't know if you understand what i mean.
But if you do understand. What do you think? good idea, bad idea?

    Thanks Guys!!!

    Winch mount

A spot to get a good purchase on a Scrambler would be the rub rail or bumper around the body. Use angle iron and go across the front and maybe a foot back on the sides. Make a winch mount plate, affix it to the angle iron and run your support in between the headlights on the flat horizontal surface. You don`t have to get too serious about a winch mount on a 6X6 because they don`t weigh too much and getting unstuck should be a simple matter.

    Bushman

Hustlers look like a Scrambler and there are lots of Hustlers running around with a kinds of cheesy winch mounts that seem to do the job, search pictures on site for examples.
