  • Value of Poncin vp 2000

    Hi !

I have found an Poncin VP 2000 for sale in Scandinavia. It is produced in 1987. It looks like beeing in very good condition. The owner is asking for $4600 / €3600. Is that a reasonable prize? This is the first Poncin VP 2000 that I have ever seen ...and I do not know what faults to expect and what to look for, and how much money these are worth.

    Any comments?

    Best regards COJ

    Hi,
the price is definately good if it is in driving condition, and all VP 2000 / 2025 and 3000 are amphibious even without screws.
If it has aditional a roadpermission the price is very good. If it is one of the very rare pieces with the two propellars at the rear it is unbelieveable.
If the drivetrain is ok then you cant do anything wrong. The engine is from Citroen 2CV (27hp) or the Citroen Visa (35hp). The second engine i dont know realy good but the 27hp engine you can get here for about 75$ so it is realy cheap and easy to repair. The brakes and some other parts are also from Citroen and still available and cheap. The body is sometimes broken cause of its havy weight but easy to repair with gfk. Some people tried to pull the vehicle at its trailer clutch out of their garage so often this part is bend and the body is broken at this point. It is strong but not strong enough to pull a weight of about 1600lbs. The tires are usual - i think goodyear rawhide.
There are two electrical fans inside which should work cause this engine is aircooled and produces a lot of heat. Sometimes so much heat that the fuel in the fueltubes is vaporised after the vehicle was parked for a few minutes and run a long time before.
    hope this helps.

Your English is fine-My german isn't

Hi Marc, That was a very interseting report. Thanks. You said that the body is very easy to repair with "GFK". What is that? Maybe a German term for welding?

        Thank you Marc !

Then I take it that the prize is OK. I will have to do some more check of the technical as engine/drivetrain/etc.

I do not know if it is streetlegal/have a roadpermission. Is that normal i Germany/France/etc? I can see that this (french?) VP2000 has a licence plate: MySpaceTV Videos: poncin vp 2000 6x6 return by nico
