  • Sierra Trail Boss #02100

Welp here she is. Serial number 02100. $400 Craigslist special in all her glory

Cleaned out the old gas, installed new lines and filter, and cleaned out carb. It wanted to start, but then the plug was getting wet with a mud looking substance, so tomorrow I see me pulling the engine..

Well she runs... kinda. Not sure if the fuel pump diaphrams are shot or what, but having a hard time keeping it to run consistantly. Also, bands need some major adjustment One side hardly drives it. Fun fun.

Had running problems with my trail boss as well, replaced a piston after burning a hole in one. Replaced the Tillotson with a Mikuni from a Ski-Doo snowmobile and never looked back, runs great now.

Mine originally had a very tired Sachs 293, so I yanked it and converted to a 14hp vanguard. havn't had any problems. (YET!)
It's all just nuts and bolts.

1970; The brakes are in the trannys. Braking is done by lightly pulling back on the laterals. (Sticks) What you are actually doing is lightly going into reverse. You have to make sure your trannys are adjusted correctly too. Both have a forward band and a reverse band. They have to be adjusted just right for the forward, reverse, and braking to work correct. Also, "SUPPOSEDLY", if you push one stick forward and pull the other back without giving it any throttle, you apply a "parking brake". It will definately stop the machine like now, but I wouldn't call it (or trust it as) a parking brake.
