  • Sidewinder

Could it be Hustler's long lost cousin? Here is a really nice Sidewinder, and it looks exactly like a Hustler except for the color. Even the roll cage is the same.

'You sure that's not a Hustler, JP?

Unless Hustler and Sidewinder had some kind of weird relationship at the end of their popularity, I'd say that machine was all Hustler. The Sidewinder I remember was a fiberglass machine that looked and worked pretty much like a Scrambler.

Any AATV history buffs out there?

I was almost sure it was a Hustler too until I saw the decals.....take a very close look at the pics and it looks like it says "Sidewinder" on the front and the sides. Im really stumped by this one.

http://www.route6x6.com/info/sidewinder/bro240.jpg I found this too which lead me to believe that its a Sidewinder, but then again I think you're right when you said how they look like a Scrambler, Don.....especially when I saw the old brochure for one. I dont think that Hustler would sell their exact machine under a different name, although Recreatives sold Maxes under the name Northway Explorer in Canada and they had a lime green body.

Here's pictures of a Sidewinder. Can I mention its for sale? My favorite part of the machine is the "STOP" and "GO" pedals.

Hello, I was just curious, is this machine a Sidewinder or is it a Hustler? I couldnt read the decals from the pics. Also, what type of motor is in it? Thank you.

                Radcliff-Hustler-Sidewinder

I have a carbon copy of the brown and yellowish-green vehicle in my garage, to the best of what I put together over the years is that there was or may be still is a fellow named Clay Radcliff who was doing business with Lowell Chrisco who was the owner of Huster Corperation. Clay Radcliff was out of Colorado and bought custom colored Hustlers and marketed them with some neat options not available from Hustler and called his product the Sidewinder, I have seen one locally up here in Northern Michigan with a polyehtelene red upper body and a white hull and it had Sidewinder stickers in the same style lettering as Hustler stickers. I was comparing 6x6 literature with Richard Clarke and he had a newsletter of some sorts that was put out by Clay Radcliff and Mr Radcliff was into 6x6s extermely to say the least. I have seen the older fiberglass Sidewinders but do not know how or if they are related.

Bushman, thank you very much for sharing that infromation! 6x6world member Don K and I have been trying to figure out details of this mystery. I have seen a couple of Sidewinders that looked just like Hustlers that were for sale in Colorado on Craigslist that were brown and yellow. I also saw a blue one recently too somewhere near Michigan or Indiana on Craigslist too. This really answers a lot of questions that Don and I had. If you find out more or have any pics please keep us updated.

                    Heres mine

I have the same vehicle and the only thing i can say about it is that its really slow. I have a Comet Duster clutch in it and plan to fool with it after my move to our new home.

Bushman, first of all nice collection! Second, I see they used the same warning tag on the Sidewinder and the Hustler. My Hustler has the same one, "This Hustler was designed for off the highway use only........" I love that roll cage and I love the look of those 22" Rawhide III tires on your rig.

By the way, here is a blue Sidewinder on Craigslist.

I recently had a guy offer to sell me his 6x6. He showed me pics of a machine very similar to this. color, winch, cage. I also noticed the bent sticks and shifter/e-brake layout like my fiberglass Hustler, but a poly body. He said the only logo was "Go Devil"

If you can get a good deal on it, buy it! Do you think you could get the pics uploaded for us to see?
