  • New To The Sport (and Science) - Ramco Retriever

Hello all. Am glad that you guys are there. I stumbled across an AATV the other day and swapped an old inflatable boat for it. She has a few bruises and all, but I think we can get her pond and puddle ready.

Thanks to TREBMATSER for his photo post of the Ramco Retriever. That is the exact same AATV I have. Were it not for his picture I would still be scratching my head.

Mine came to me with a burnt up 10 HP engine, already have a new one of those. It needs some glass work and we are getting it disassembled so that we can do it right. We want to restore it to the best level we can.

My first problem is in how to get the left side drive sprocket and all detached from the transmission. The transmission is a HAXCO. Gear pattern is H-N-L-N-R. Got the right side off easily. Just unbolted the 4 carriage bolts holding the inside support flange and it slipped right out. Not so with the left side. I can't seem to figure out how it comes out. I am thinking that maybe I need to remove the two drive sprockets on the left side and that the left side of the transmission drive shaft is just longer than the right side. I think I could tilt and twist the transmission to get it out of the buggy. Any pointers out there?

Next, I need a parts source. Right now I need new band brakes and maybe one replacement sprocket. The inner one on the left side. The previous owner hd threw the chain and chewed ot up a bit. I would work, but would rather get it replaced while I have it apart.
