  • Prairie bobcat Are they rare?

I have found a prairie Bobcat for sale. Add says $600 it runs and drives but needs a little work. Would this be hard to find parts for? This could be a headache if i want to run it. Although on a long term project it might turn out to be a bit of a collector? What are some of your thoughts?
Whats a little gas to save a few steps!

If I saw that and had $600, I would jump on it.

Most parts can be made at local machine shops. Other parts maybe not so easy but thats when you rely on others on the site to help you out.
    Hope that helps.

        Prairie Bobcat

In the early 1990's I owned a Prairie Bobcat and found most of the parts to be generic in nature. I don't see a need to buy parts that cannot be bought at your local bearing supplier or manufactured by a good machinist. They were a neat 6 wheeler and very fast.

Hey maniac hope you got your bobcat.
I've owned a fiberglass body sport model for 20 years, and worked
on a few steel bodies.-the smaller ones. They also made these
          big Jumbo 2ooo
The jumbo would be a great find. What did you find.

Sorry no manual. My own fault though, around 93 I met Nick
from nic-mat industries. He invited me to his house, we
chatted for a couple hours. But i left with a belt and some
stickers.Boy do I feel stupid now.

I didn't get the Prairie Bobcat, I have a couple of garden tractor projects (1969 Bolen & 1974 IHC cub cadet looking for parts or attachments) and the 1984 6x6 Argo on the go. I figured the $600 would get a long ways on a couple of these.

Beeman FYI the Bobcat is advertised online on KIJIJI around Calgary somewhere.

I have two of the fiberglass ones. I found it hard to find a transmission for them. All of the axeles I had made at a machine shop. Gears and chains fron Princess Auto. The second one is getting a 3 speed transmision out of a 1965 half ton.

I picked up that bobcat (in a round about way.. no need to explain)... it has a rather large whole in the back, dude gave me the fiberglass piece which had the hitch attached (wonder how it ripped apart? hmmm...)

Oh well, since I can't build/repair yet, I may as well collect.

Nice work Dave... you should search this site for the bobcat with a 3 speed auto tranny in it :P

Just some pics of the thing that started this thread...
