  • Thinking about buying used Terra Tiger

I called today about a used Terra Tiger needing some work. He said the clutch is gone because it just moves in a circle. It has a Wolverine engine in it. I know originally they had the Rockwell JLO engines. Is the Wolverine a good engine or not. Also he said it has in in storage for 10 years and will probably need new chains. Asking price is $500. Any thoughts good or bad. Thanks

if it only goes in a circle, it'd have to be one of the steering clutches. it could be out of adjustment, but probably needs the clutches relined. (might also just be a stuck brake) i don't know anywhere other than RC to get clutches done, and i think it's expensive.
i'd price getting the clutches relined, and about 25 feet of #40 chain. build in a few hundred more for "unforseen expenses" and see if it still falls into a price range that works for you. i have my tiger for sale for $1200. everything in the bottom end is fresh (about 10-15 hours on chain bearings and clutches)
and includes a spare engine. if you could come in that price range on your machine when it's all said and done i think you'd be doing pretty good.

Thanks for your replys. I'm not sure which clutch is bad, we just didn't get into that with him. I'm sure a detailed inspection is due but being new at this I'm not sure what to look for.
