  • Terra Tiger - aftermarket add-ons

I have three Terra Tigers now all in rough shape. My goal is to make one good one out of the three. The tiger will be for my sons when they get a little older (they are currently 4 and 5), so I have several years to complete this project and do it right. We own a cottage on a slow moving river with hundreds of acres of murky, muddy backwater - this is where the Tiger will prowl. I want to start compiling a list of add-ons that I should consider. I will start the lst below and ask that anyone with any experience, tips, hints or horror stories chime in.

    1. I think a winch will be an absolute necessity b/c I hear that when these get stuck, they REALLY get stuck. Are there any winches that can be driven directly off of the engine?

    2. Engines....I curruntly have two Rotax 299cc's in two of the tigers. One is a runner, but it is loud! I would like to repower with one of the 15 or 16 horse single cylinder Briggs that I have laying around. Has anyone repowered with a Briggs? I spoke with Richard and he said this is a perfect engine for one of these rigs.

    3. Water propulsion - I have seen pics of guys who mount outboard motors on the back. The river is very slow moving, but I think the current is just strong enough to make some difficulties for the 6 wheel propulsion. Is there a kit for mounting an outboard motor on the back?

    4. Electric Start - Can I use the existing key-hole up on the dash counsel?

    5. Bilge pump - I see that some folks add in a bilge pump. Is this an effective addition? Can I run it directly off of the engine?

Any other ideas (either practical or just plain "cool") will be welcomed.
