For give me if Im wrong but I believe the gotcha was only made in 1973?
The do know serial number is on the dash on right side.
They were around in 1970, probably there first year of production. I remember Charlie Baldwin wheel standing one with a 640 Hirth in it down the side street next to the Atlantic City Convention Center prior to a regional NATVA event on the beach.

Good question Larry, Don't know. The intent was to produce a lower priced machine to compete with the Honda ATC. They were probably not cheap enough, although they did work very well. Not quite a 6 wheeler but better than a 3 wheeler. I remember they were good swimmers.
Some were on the left master cylinder too, of the early ones with yellow tags/stickers
all together they made about 500 of them, early ones were solid colors?
Yes, the VIN was right on the dash. As I both live in Canada now, and bought the Gotcha basically sight unseen - I needed to know where to find the numbers. The previous owner knew pretty much nothing about it - but had it in his barn for 15+ years. I have one picture of it on my profile, will gladly show more. The VIN # on it is: 702xx, if anyone might be able to tell when it was made better than my guess. I am always looking for advice as to fixing it up.... It runs now (I need to redo the exhaust, etc before trying it out). He sold it to me saying that it won't turn left (but the caliper works?). I have had other ATV's (argo, trackster, coot) and this is a project for me (retired US Army) and my 11 yo stepson. I do know that this was a well spent $300.00.
Thanks again to all!
