I just purchased a scrambler 1500 at a swap meet. It has a kohler k361 in it whick runs but needs carb rebuilt. The drive belt is old and worn. This looks like a huge process to get a new one on - I can obviously cut the old one off. How do I do this or where can I find the information. Rhe scramble has some other minor issues too bu t 1 problem at a time - Any place to buy K361 parts - those are hard to find too. Thanks

You may want to reach out to Amphiman 1 or Larry W. they both know their Scramblers as well as many other AATV's. I don't think the process of changing the belt is as bad as it looks though, just a matter of doing it in the right order. If all else fails, you can get a copy of the service manual from RichardsRelics.com.

^what he said, he said minus the richardrelics thing^
Its really not that hard like may be an hour tops. I put the new belt on the Gotcha in like 1/2hr.
What parts are you looking for on the k361? That is the overhead valve one right? I know where a k361 overhead valve motor is with a bad head. I can talk to him maybe see what he is doing with it.

thank you - i will search on the drive belt. As with anything getting old bolts can be a challenge plus the right order too.. As far as the k361 GOES-carb leaking gas out of the bowl reain (gasket) plus hard to get the engine to a low idle where drive belt is not engaging - i THOUGHT maybe the idle circuit - It is the OHV Kohler. Could be valves too. I hate to tear into it unless I know where to get parts- It does run. Hard to start - thought points or something of that nature. Sure would like a reverse. Left clutch or cylinder need to open a little further - the cylinder was leaking but I tightened up a fitting and the leak stopped. Maybe need to bleed it better. I do not know much about these 6X6 but learning fast and having fun too, It is a blast to drive if I can get everything working properly - thankyou all for your input

primary drive scrambler 1500
I hate to sound thick but i still cannot see how to get the belt off - actually go on. It looks like the left clutch/brake has to come off and the shaft has to slide out - The frame that holds all this also has the engine too. I do see how all the chains adjust - any pics or digrams out there?
