Al/Larry: Hi Al thanks for the vote of confidence. I will probably market them myself via ebay or something like that or my own website, haven't got that far yet. I want to make sure they are everything that I think they are. I have a bearing test rig that loads up the bearing that right now is running 24 hrs/day, WITHOUT LUBRICATION. When I reach 1,000 hours they will be inspected for wear etc., if everything looks good I will market them. The axles will be the next offering.

So what was the cause of all the chain popping? I've been through all the R&D to. It always seems that things you suspect might be troublesome, never happen. It"s the simple things that burn you.
      It sure looks good

          Troubleshooting Popping

Whipper, your absolutely right, it was not what I thought at all. You would think the popping was caused by alignment, tensioners etc, but this was caused by jackshaft windup. When you put the car under heavy load (like hill climbing) the jackshafts would actually twist and then release like a spring, causing a backlash ripple effect that was being transmitted to the T-20 drive chains and the chain loops to the axles. This shock load would release the spring pressure on the tensioners on the T-20 and axle chain loops causing the chain to jump/climb up on the sprockets. It was very hard to troubleshoot. I tried for weeks to find the cause but it wasn't until I mounted a video camera in the area, capture the video and then in slo-mo, frame-by-frame did I see it happen. My original jackshafts were actually cut down 1.25 Argo axles, and the tremendous torque actually permanately twisted the splines (like a barbers pole), yielding the material. The stuff Argo uses is not the best, so I made new jackshafts out of 4340 HT. This corrected the problem about 98%. Ocasionally I will still get a pop under extreme load, but the 4340 is so tough you can't hurt it. It's a totally new game running 30" tires, because with those agressive tires they don't want to spin, and the gearing on the T-20 wants to keep putting out the torque so something has to give. This setup produces so much torque that I can just about go through anything just above idle.

Martwell Bonjour, comment allez-vous? Thanks for the compliment. I will be posting about 35 minutes of video of BWII on its first 5 hour ride, and I did go through some mean mud holes as you will see soon.

Sprngwater Fall Ride Nov 09 Part 1 of 4

Ok, its time to enjoy our neck of the woods, beautiful country over +20,000 acres of riding pleasure, hope to have our AATV Campground ready for 2011. It was quite dry this past fall, we usually have a lot more flooded sections, but anyways I hope you enjoy the series.

Ya' know, I gotta say if a picture is worth a thousand words, then you just wrote the book on do-it-yourself amphibs! Vids speak volumes, but any of us who have ever built something from our own thoughts know that what these vids don't show are the countless hours of thought that are put into each hour devoted to actually building these ideas.

Did you weld the aluminum yourself, what process did you use, TIG or MIG? I am WAAAAYYYYY more than impressed!!!
DESTRUCTION is just a couple of vowels down the street from DISTRACTION

Well Thanks again for the comments. It's nice to share with like minded people. My only regret is I didn't get involved in this sport when I was younger, but I'm making up for lost time! I find it very addictive as you long time members already know, can be frustrating, and yet rewarding, with a feeling of accomplishment when you climb a hill or go through a mud hole or blast down a trail. Also floating it in the water never loses its thrill, or the feeling of raw power when I pulled my friends Dodge diesel extended cab truck with a long trailer attached when he was stuck in the mud.

But we all know everyone can enjoy this sport with whatever they have, new, custom, or vintage, 14 hp or 50 hp. Also thanks to all Mikes hard work and generosity for such a media and community we enjoy so much!

                            Awesome video!

At 9:17, of part 3, I first though you where fishing? The tree limb lined up with your camera perfect and it looked like a fishing pole. lol

dialoging the dialogers was funny too

Hahaha, yes I just checked it out, it looks like I got a 20 lb. pike on my line. Your a detail man Larry, glad you enjoyed it. I can't wait for warmer weather to get out and have some fun, I kinda hate winter. I'm getting a "real" camera this year one that shoots HD, I like the Kodak Zi8, good price as well.
