  • Sierra Trailboss Information

I have a i dont know what year sierra trail boss that i found it in some bushes up at my wife uncles house and i fell in love at first sight!!! But it was just a shell and the gear boxs i belive? No motor, no chains. But it did have in between the drive boxs (are those the trans?) some pullys and i belive a clutch and a sprocket that seems to take a double chain, drive belt from the motor and another small chain. Dose any one know what the double chain is and how long i might need? I did get a motor at a local swap meet and the drive cahin that runs bolth sides of the wheels. But the motor is an arttic cat 440 snowmobile motor that everone around here is telling me that it will work but none of them have ever had a aatv so i dont know what to think. So i am comming to ask the experts you guys for help and wisdom. I have some pics i can post if that will help.

Post whatever pics you have. It will help make your grocery list. In the meantime, the sprockets on the gearbox (yes they are the trannys) shafts are about 3/4 inch apart. That is where your double chain goes. it joins the two gearboxes/trannys. The 440 should work, but you might want to research the hp rating. Original motor was rated at 20 hp. I've heard of bosses with 440s, but you probably already know that you will have to adapt/modify to retrofit. Hope that helps some.
It's all just nuts and bolts.
