  • i bought a gotcha today

so today amphiman brought me a gotcha some parts i need now though some may be able to help me with. bearings. supposedly same as scrambler but not sure. an original gas tank would be nice and a new elec start motor that will fit nicely the honda in it now works but would like a key start now. It has a 7hp honda

A 6.5hp honda clone with the governor removed will probably out perform the stock 7. Plus you can get them for dirt cheap new! Not sure if the mounts the same but the 11 hp might work too?

Im sorry, I cant find an 11. I think I said that because that is a honda motor. I cant find a 9hp clone either. Goes from 6.5 right to 13hp.

I just bought a 14 hp off brand/clone off ebay - $179 plus shipping. Electric start and all. Place had quit a few of them for auction. I don't know if that is too big for you application. I'm new to the 6x6 thing and I have no idea what a gotcha is.

If you need bearings get some good ones (at a low price) from Buffalo Bearing. Many 6x6World members get their bearings through them. Call them up and give them the specs of the bearings you need and they'll be sure to set you up with something good. Tell them you found out about them on 6x6World and they'll be sure to take good care of you.

If I remember rightly, there is no actual reservoir for the hydraulic fluid. Mine had plastic tubes from master cylinders that attached to the body and ended up under the dash. I guess there isn't a need for too much fluid in the system.

Good luck with the Got'cha- they're cool little machines.

You are right Don! The gotcha had no reserviour.

There is a scrambler manual on how to bleed the breaks in the front page of site. http://www.6x6world.com/forums/conte...rs-manual.html
You need a grease gun and you pump the atf in the grease zerks on the slave cylinder and it pumps the fluid out the tubes where you must have the reserviour.
I was on harbor frieght and noticed they do have the 11hp honda clone engines.

The bearings are an odd ball size and harder to find. When I drove the machine the chains where guitar string tight on one side. Enought to pull, that is not good on the bearings at all which may be why they are bad.

thanks for the inputguys love the site. He told me that little plastic bottle needed to be filled with atf and its the resevoir. lol 1 chain broke on me already so i decided to replace the chain. I hate the tires on it so they are getting replaced too and the engine was because 1 i want a elec start and 2 2nd time i tried to start it the part inside the recoil broke.

The Scrambler master cylinders have a built in reservoir and do not need the plastic bottle if the seals and cylinders are in good condition. If the seals leak the bottles gives you the ability to easily replenish the leak. I will try to vid the bleeding process. Also do not loose the caps that go on the zerks as they will leak with out them. Also the caps have a small rubber gasket inside that sometimes needs replacing. The system works well if everything is tight and leak free. The slaves and masters should have been designed for a boot to keep the plungers clean. That's my next project.
