  • RANGE CAT 775 ? (8x8)

    Hello Everyone,
I am looking for any information on a "Range Cat 775". It was mfg in 1998. (8x8) It looks to have some components similar to the argos. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi and welcome to the site. There was one other member that had a RangeCat in this thread but not too many people knew about them: http://www.6x6world.com/forums/other...cat-775-a.html

I just searched the web to see what I could find and this is what I came up with:

From this link: Reader's choice over $5,000 it says that there were three different Cushman RangeCats manufactured by Textron, the 775, 1100 and the 1700. It lists the features of each one.

This brochure from Safety One International's site has some good RangeCat information though: Scot-Track 8x8 Brochure
It is actually a brochure from the SCOT-TRAC 2000R but if you will read a little further down it gives the history of the SCOT-TRAC 8x8. It was originally designed in Scotland by Scot-Track Ltd. Here's the synopsis.

Originally Scot-Track Ltd (founded in 1988) began by importing another 8x8 from France but it wasn't "strong enough for Scottish conditions" so they developed their own machine called the Glencoe. In 1990 the Glencoe became hydraulically powered and then went through another major upgrade in 1997 when it got rebranded as the Hillcat 8x8.

Over the years Scot-Track changed hands twice, eventually landing in the hands of Textron Corporation around 1997 where the HillCat was rebranded as the Cushman RangeCat for the American market and it was built in Lincoln, Nebraska. Again there were three models but the brochure cites technical difficulties of hydrostatic transmission and eight separate hydraulic motors along with delays as a reason for its demise. In 1999 Scot-Track's collaboration with Textron ended and they developed the Scot-Trac 2000R as their only model.

So in the end it sounds like the Range Cat was only built for 2 years. Do you have any pictures of it that you could upload to the gallery here on the site? What kind of condition is it in? Sounds like a neat machine.
