  • Need help with a swamp fox

I am looking for someone close to Toledo Ohio who is knowledegable on the T20 operation to check out my Swamp Fox. I recently installed a 23 Vanguard in it and it runs great but I think I need some fine turning on the T20, spring or governor spring. I do not have a lot of experinece with it so I dont know if I am expecting too much. With the 23 it seems as if it takes forever to get it moving or get any type of speed. There doesnt seem to be much power difference from the OH160 to the vanguard. If anyone is close by and would be willing to look at it please let me know.

    Thanks

When you have the T20 in neutral and you rev up the motor do both clutches open and close all the way while allowing the belt to go up and down the clutches? Also in neutral does the motor itself sound like it is revving up properly? Is the belt between the clutches tight? Is it the correct width? Just a few things that popped into my head after reading your post.

I noted poor performance from my Swamp Fox after pulling the old Onan & reinstalling (before I put the diesel in). I figured out that the spring set in my motor driven clutch were worn nearly out. The original clutch is no longer sold nor serviced. I bought a new clutch from Richard & that entirely fixed the problem. Could be the same for your machine.

Thank you for the advice. It actually turned out to be something very simple. The throttle grip was spinning on the throttle assembly. When I would open up the throttle it would catch but the inside would spin back to the idle position. It would do it slowly and I couldnt tell until I watced the carb while giving it throttle.

        Thanks again.
