That is going to be a tough one. I only remember seeing one other person with a Ranger. I believe he posted some pictures in the gallery. Outside of that there are two brochures in the brochure section here: Ranger V Brochure
If you could post some pictures of the transmissions someone may be able to help you from looking at them.

Bob,
I uploaded your photos to your gallery so everyone can see what you have:
You mentioned having two transmissions. The brochure I linked to only mentions one automotive style transmission. Do you think there is a reduction unit there? If you can get some pictures of the transmissions maybe someone else will be able to help you out.

Mike, I took the top cover off of the second trans. and found the reverse idler broken , the problem is not in the transmissions, it is the rear end that has to be turned reverse to make the rig go forward its a spicer unit and must be compound reduction if thats possible and something is installed wrong , either there or the final drive , something needs to be turned around to get it to go forward in 1st,2nd ,3rd gears, any ideas??? BOB

if it is like one of my units, it has a gearbox right behind the trani and the shaft goes from the rr of the trani to the top of the gearbox, then has 2 output shafts at the bottom as outputs, one runs the PTO and the other goes to the final drive diff, with the shaft going in at the top and coming out at the bottom the rotation of the output is the opposite of the input , therefore driving your diff in the proper direction, check to see if you have a different location on the gearbox for final drive , but without pics it is hard for me to tell what you got, my guess is that it is the second trani installed wrongHe who has not cruised the back country in a 6x6 , has not lived life to it's fullest
A Mans level of mechanical education directly corresponds to the level pain suffered while getting it

Did you get this resolved? I have had some experience with the transmissions on these, they are a borg warner t-92. They were also used in crosley cars. there is a website, from a place in ohio that you can buy rebuilt trannys from if need be. Let me know if I can be of assistance.

I'm new to this, but I have one of these old rangers and the problem I'm having is finding parts. I'm looking for the shaft that goes from the tranny to the rearend. If you look back it's PN#104 &# 100 any help would be great. Thanks and have a great day.
