  • What is this part, Scrambler

I have a 1968 Scrambler, Model 1000 three seater. My daughter was driving it yesterday, running real good and even drove through the pond. When we went to put it away found two loose parts lying in the back. They are the same, hard rubber, about .5 x 1 x 3 inches in size. Where did these come from and what are they? I noticed the gas can in the back was a little loose also, did these come from here?

    Thanks,
    Steve

look a little deeper you might find the missing bolts, one nice thing about these machines the internals don't fall off very far from home

These are just rectangular black rubber pieces, no holes or molded in fasteners of any kind. I'm guessing they were sandwiched somewhere to isolate noise perhaps or were glued to under side of upper body near gas tank maybe. Not sure if a stock item to the Scrambler of something P.O. added. Next time I have the upper body off I'll see if I can figure out where they came from...was just hoping someone here knew.

        Thanks,
        Steve

Hey Jeeper. On your model 1000 does the gas tank look like a regular gas can "metal" cylinder shape. Or is it made of something different. If you had a pic that would be great. Im trying to figure out if the one I got is something that someone put in or if its stock in some ways it looks stock but in some ways it dosen't thanks

My gas tank is metal can red/yellow cylinder type....like one you would use to carry gas in. I too thought it was rigged up, but I think this is the way they came from factory.
