Hello all, this is my first time posting but I have been getting info from the site for a few months now. I have always been interested in an AATV since I was a kid and now that I have the ability to get one I have been shopping around. There is a sierra trail boss that I would like to buy. They are asking 1000 dollars obo, the guy said it ran but it needs a coil now. He has no time to ride it so he is letting it go. He already bought a replacement coil for it but since he has no time to ride it also has no time to fix it. I have been on and off with the guy vie text and phone and has been about a month now and we haven't been able to meet so I can see the machine. To make a long story short he gave me his address and told me to go see it without him being there.
I plan to go tomorrow and that I want to know if there is anything in particular that I would need to look for. I have found plenty on pictures online so that I know what they are suppose to look like.
I'm very mechanically inclined and having it not running is not an issue for me, in fact I prefer something to work on because it’s cheaper, more fun for me, and easier to convince the wife to get it since it won't cost so much. I'm concerned about the transmission. I read that I would have to get parts machined out if I need replacement parts.
My main questions are
Is $1000 a fair price if it’s in ok shape and really is just the coil that bad?
Can the transmissions be replaced with another model that is more serviceable?
there are no pictures untill I go see it and take my own inwhich I will post them when I get a chance.
Thanks in advance for any info provided.
