You sure did get the better end of the trade! That Gip Sea looks like a cool machine. Isnt it basically the same thing as a Jiger which were build in Toronto, Ontario Canada? Those 21" Rawhides make it look pretty stout. Do you have any pics of the Amphicat? Also, are these rigs still in your fleet?"Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

Hi guys, the ATC90 was the early one with folding handlebars etc., kind of neat and later I learned that because of that feature it was somewhat rare. I even had the original paperwork from the original sale by the dealer. I got it for something like $45 or $50 as I remember. It was complete and it took me about 4 months to get it running due to non-use, improper storage, varnished gas and the usual. Much later I learned that it was worth some bucks because it was the folding model. On the Web I found a guy that wanted it bad and he offered me the Gip-Sea and the 'Cat in trade for the ATC90. We traded and the guy delivered both 6x6's to me on a truck and he had a 150 mile round trip at least.
The Gip-Sea came as you see it in the pictures. The tires were brand new as you see in the pictures. Trouble is they were too aggresive and that made it difficult to steer because it was originally designed to run the old one piece 3-bolt wheel/tire combination. It still floated though. It was very much like the Jigger and it took me a while to find out what it was because it had no ID tags on it anywhere.
The 'Cat was original too but needed a couple of tires and some ABS repair in the front where it was cracked. The engine had lost it's spark but it had great compression in the engine.
I'll try to post some pictures when I get around to it.
As it turned out, I wound up being transferred at work and had to move. Something had to go because the movers would not take all my Toys because it was a company move and they had some restrictions.
I wound up putting them on eBay as a package and they went to a guy in MO.
He wanted the 'Cat more than the Gip-Sea. The trailer he rented was too small for both machines and I cringed when he loaded them on. It was like putting 100 lbs into a 50lb sack. That Gip-Sea 'glass body received more damage in one hour than it ever saw in it's whole life. What a shame.sigpic
