  • Lil Critter Speed

I had posted some Lil Critter videos and there was discussion about its' speed. So I did a AV-4 18 hp speed check with a Garmin nuvi onboard. Maximum land speed is 17 mph at 3740 rpm. Maximum water speed is 2.5 mph at 3730 rpm. Though maintainable water speed seems to about 2.3 mph. Motor is limited to 3800 rpm so it seems to be giving about all it has.

Critter is about 20 x's slower than the ski it's trailering. It's cool to be able to launch a ski by driving straight into the water.

That is a cool picture. That Lil critter you have is a cool machine!

A cool trick I do when clocking things with the gps is to clear the maximum speed off and go drive it around. Then check it when your done. I had to do this with my go-kart because it was a lot safer then flying around trying to read the gps unit, lol. I didn't have a place to mount it and I had to try reading it while holding it, while driving it. I mean I'm all for doing stunts and stuff but I want to die doing a cool stunt, not reading the gps, lol. But with the dash of a amphib you could probably mount it and that would help to.

Thr fiberglass dash on the Critter is smooth so the GPS suction cupped right on.

Here's a picture of the trailer coming out of the water. Dangling algae and all.
