I watched a video of John Scwabs father driving an Argo 8x8 through the water with the super swamper vampire tires and they hardly swim at all. They do provide good traction though.

Hey mudbug, I think I saw that video. I believe the tires he had were the Super Swamper TSL ATV tires, not the Vampires, although I'm not 100% sure on that. Here's the link to the Vampires and the TSL ATV tires. Sometimes these tires get confused for each other because they have similar names, and their tread pattern even looks somewhat similar.

6X6World member boncrshr, Scott, has the Vampires on his Hustler 950 and they swim, not very fast, but for the very little time that I use my machines in the water, they'll do just fine.

Exactly, even Interco got them confused for me. I ordered vampires and they sent the SS TSL tires. I have a photo in the gallery with these loaded in the back of my side by side. It was only after some head scratching on my part that I realized I was sent the wrong tires. Then I had to exchange them for the Vampires. The Vampire is a symetrical tire and you have to order it for the left or right side (it's got an extra cleat on the outside to help pull through the mud). The SS TSL is a mean tire in and of itself, and I'm surprised more people haven't fitted them to their amphibs. Interco has them in stock now. The Vampires should be back soon. BONCRUSHR has them on his Hustler 950 and thats a very capable rig.

Hey Noel, I see you had the Vampire ASX's on your Swamp Fox and you said they fit, but just barely. Do you think my regular 26x12x12 Vampires will clear each other on my Swamp Fox? I don't have it together yet so I can't see for myself.

And for anyone wondering here's the breakdown of the Super Swamper tires:

The Vampire ASX.....it only comes in the 26" size and it has an asymmetric tread and is specific for the left side or right side because of the raised tread/lugs on the sidewall.
TSL Vampire ASX | Interco Tire

The TSL Vampire comes in many sizes and it has a deep aggreassive tread without and sidewall lugs/tread.
          TSL Vampires | Interco Tire

The Super Swamper TSL ATV tires come in many sizes and the tread is not as aggressive, nor does it have the sidewall lugs/tread.

Hey JP, how deep are the lugs on the ASX tires? I have a set of 27x12-11 TSL Vampires on my Big Red, and they have a 1 1/4" deep lug. I have never had my hands on a set of ASX's, but from the pictures they appear to have shallower lugs. I have never liked the S.S. TSL's.

I'll add some pictures to your TSL tire breakdown:

            TSL Vampire:

            TSL Vampire ASX:

            Super Swamper TSL:
            1983 Hustler 945-HK 627cc Vanguard
1982 GMC K-10 Sierra Classic Suburban 6.2 Diesel
            2010 Chevy Silverado 1500
            1974 Honda ATC 70
1986 Honda ATC 250ES Big Red

There is no Z in Diesel!!

I think they will fit, based upon a quick reference look at diameters, it will be close though.

Thanks for the pics, Stonewall. The ASX has a 1" tread depth, as well as 1" wider tread depth, and I think because their tread depth is 1/4" shallower than the regular Vampires they float and paddle better, rather than dig down. That's why I think the ASX is the best all around tire for our AATVs. The regular Vampires should still do the trick......and the price was right so I can't argue that.

And thanks for looking into the fitment for me, Noel. I'll get them mounted on the Recreatives K-lock rims within the next couple weeks. I think I'll run them at 1 PSI and just hope for the best when I go to bolt them up.

                  Nice new shoes JP.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

The bottom picture of the Super Swamper TSL is the exact tire that I was referring to. This is the same tire that Jon Holts father had on his Argo Conquest 8x8. In the video that I watched I saw Jon Holts father drive into a small body of water and his Argo conquest hardly moved in the water. Jon Holt stated in the video that the Super Swamper TSL was a pretty decent mud tire, but performed very poory in the water.

I talked to Junkman who had the Vampire TSL's on his Max IV and he told me that even though they swam a little, this tire will dig down really quick. Scott and junkman both told me that this tire likes a hard bottom to perform at its best. Riding in soft mud with this tire will get you stuck in a hurry because they dig down so fast.
