    Another mystery machine and Anybody know anything on this transmission?

    I put some pictures in the gallery here. This mystery machine looks fiberglass and larger? Anybody know what it is? I would also like to find more on the transmission in my trailblazer. Name/brand/manufacter anything? It is found in this mystery machine and older ridge runners(I have seen some without this trans so guessing older), newt the bold and the mobilera trailblazer. I include pictures of those too so read the title of the photo to see the mystery machine ones.Thanks

      I think it was Matt O that told me the same transmission was used by some of the racers in their over-powered modifieds because it was so rugged. I've never had one apart, but from what I'm told they work a lot like a T20 but instead of mechanical linkage to move the bands they use hydraulic servos. Wish I could tell you more.

        Any markings in the casting, numbers, etc?

          If it is similar to the t-20 then I wonder how the counter rotating works? I do remember Matt saying something about they using them in races but never heard anything else on them. I don't recall anything as far as casting numbers but I will check into that again. Its buried in the shed at the moment.

            Buried in the fins I did find some casting numbers Jeff. Thanks for bringing that up! Now I have something to search. It would be cool to find some info with the patent number.

                There appears to be 2 transmissions there. Figure 5 looks alot like mine but no fins? I skimmed through the print and saw read about the hydraulic rams And how each output shaft can be controlled independently of the other. Near the bottom of 9 where it says 9 10 on top of page.

                  Does one of those pictures show one with a right angle drive? I think it would be great to rig up one with a small car torque converter instead of the belt drive, but it would require a really wide AATV or something with a right angle drive in it. A fluid coupling would mean no stretching belts, no sliding engine mounts, no belt dust, no wet belt slipping, and all around ease of use and maitnance.

                    One does look to be a right angle drive. That would be cool!

                    I am so pumped I found the patent information on this! I have had the tranny for a while and never tested it and it was sitting a long time before I got it and I believe some if not all was under water. I just always figured if it didn't work I would be screwed and it would be T-20 time! Definitely a huge step in the right direction. Lots of lost information on it just got found!
