One i'm sure everyone on here is familiar with,member thebuggyman1's really nice sportster,and the other one i found in a storage building near port huron michigan.
Jim(thebuggyman1) lives in charlotte mi,which is a couple hours from port huron,so i made a couple day journey out of it.
I worked it out to arrive at jim's house to buy his machine early enough to have time to take it out for a ride.
So after picking up the one from the storage building,and driving the 2hours to jim's house.we had a few hours to play in the mud.
Jim has a great place to ride right behind his house,and ride we did,it was a lot of fun.
I had not been on a ride in a 6x6 since the sportster that my dad bought new in 1970,and we grew up riding,was lost in a fire in 95.
I want to thank Jim and his wife for the hospitality.I had a blast,even though its too dang cold up there for a southern boy,riding the obstacles jim has in his backyard basically.from the pit,to the "wussy bridge" the sportster followed jim in his maxII without any trouble.
Hard to believe i was able to find 2 pretty rare,41year old machines,100 miles apart in michigan that were in great condition.Jim's ran perfect,and the other one i got running in about an hour and drove it into the trailer.
So yea it was a great day!! Thanks jim.
Here are a few pictures of the 2 machines,and i'll link to the videos i shot with my iphone as we were riding,as soon as i get them edited and uploaded to youtube.
and i'll put some in the gallery as soon as i get them on the computer.
My mom has some old super 8mm home movies and some slides of the sportster when is was new,they're prob from 72 or 73,and would be cool to see what it looked like in nearly new condition.
