Hard to tell from the angle, but it could be an old WOLVERINE. Those were pretty rare, and pretty awesome from the what little info I've read and the few pics I've seen.
EDIT: It IS a WOLVERINE! Had to double-check "the competition" to be certain.

Is this thing for sale locally, or is it something that YOU have aquired? I am very curious. Only one I've seen outside of the mag articles and the handful of grainy pictures. Looks VERY brute tough, along the same lines as the KID. Any info would certainly be welcome!!! Don't keep us in suspense!!

Who made it? It is for sale, but I have no idea what it is worth yet. It is in south east Oklahoma. timLast edited by timjohnston; 05-25-2011, 11:05 AM.

This is indeed a Wolverine. My father, John Thousand, was the designer. I grew up on the drafting table drawing it and in the shop building them. My after school job was to take the prototype down to a 10 arce plot on Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach and put hours on it. I'm stretching my memory a bit, but I think the first one was built in 65-66 timeframe.
This unit was what we called the flat deck version. Not too good for swiming. The standard version had a raised section along the width of the rear deck, which elevated the exhaust. Other than the expanded metal, the unit looks very original. Factory rollbar and headlights. Seat have been replaced. We used a molded fiberglass seat that provided very good side support. This seat was designed by the late Ken Miles and was used in the racing version of the Ford GT-40.
My brother still has one at his place in Mexico. We built about 40 of them. My father was a great engineer, but nos so good of a businessman and got taken to the cleaners by Iseki tractors of Japan. I still have some of the old sales brochures, photos, and even some 16mm film of testing.
I would be interested in this one if it is indeed for sale. 949-632-0865
