  • New to site, got Scrambler questions

Hi everyone, I just got a Scrambler 6x6 that I want to bring back to life and ride around the farm. I dont know much about it other than it says Action Age on the side and it looks exactly like Joe M's Scrambler on here, but not as nice.

One of my first questions is what wheels and tires will replace the ones that are on it now? All 6 tires are shot with tears in them, so I was hoping I could find a way to use some rims off some of my 3 wheelers. I just didnt know how I go about converting it, is there a hub for this? Also then I could just put on some 22x11x8 tires which I have a bunch of.

Also, can anyone tell me what the motor is in this thing, as far as HP, were to find parts things like that? It's currently not running but I dont think it will take much to get it going. If its too much of a problem I was thinking of taking a snowmobile engine I have lying around either a CCW 440 or a Yamaha 540 out of an SRV, but I would rather just use the stock equipment.

I got this because it seemed pretty cool, I always wanted one and I found out my dad wanted one when they came out but had no money so this was kinda cool to stumble upon this. I trade a guy for a stand up jet ski I had that needed work so I'm hoping it was a decent deal. I'll post us some pics when I get a chance, but I appreciate any information or advice. Thanks!

    Scrambler

I restored a scrambler a few years ago.. I purchased wheels and tires for it from route6x6.com and also the adaptors to go from the 3 hole lug to the standard 5 hole. Worked out nice. The flange where the 3 studs mount to is a weak point.. make sure you look it over and beef it up if you need to.

The engine that was in mine was a 8hp 4 stroke briggs. I replaced it with a 11hp 4 stroke and it worked out good. Wasnt the fastest machine out there, but had plenty of power because the standard scrambler gearing was so low.

The engine swap was a piece of cake and I was able to add electric start and an alternator at the same time. Because of that I made reverse for the machine out of an outboard motor starter and ring gear. It was enough reverse to get you off the trailer or garage and also if you got into a pinch you could back up a ways to get going.

The scrambler is an easy machine to work on and most parts are available if you look around..

    good luck!
