  • New Scrambler Owner

Hello everyone. I'm new to 6x6's and just picked up an old scrambler 1000 with the intent of restoring it. Its not currently running but is more or less all complete, Minus a fuel tank, carb and some chains. So far I have stripped it out to the bare tub so I can repair a small crack and powder coat all the pieces. Probably going to line the tub with some bed liner while its out as well. Couple of questions for the group. What friction material do I get from Mcmasters for the brakes? Is there anywhere to get a new replacement disc? What size wheel and tire fits on this thing after I swap the hubs over to the 5 bolts?I'm sure i'll have more questions later thanks guys.

I know 22" tires will fit. Your best bet for replacement disks is to post a wanted ad but it may take a while to track any down. You might be better to have someone make some for you at a machine shop or something. As for the friction material it get real complicated with different frictions and such. Im not sure exactly which one you need. It would be best to get one soft so it will not ruin the disks but not sure because you want one that will grip enough too. Im not sure if you plan on bed lining the inside or outside but I would avoid the outside because having a slippery under side is what you want. Makes it easier to go through deep mud and snow and sliding over logs or what ever. The less it catches the less you will get stuck. Good luck on it!

I was told the friction material was that out of a vw bug clutch. It seems to me i was told late 60's is the one you want. I cant remember if i was told you had to cut it to fit or not.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!
