  • recent purchase of early 70s amphicat 6x6

    Hi there all!
just recently purchased a early 70s 6x6 amphicat, actually nice condition for its age but has a early 80s 485cc yamaha twin cylinder engine modified into it!took it out yesterday in a field to try it out, could not steer it hardly, seems to need adjustments!also need to figure out how to adjust the clutch so the rpm's dont have to be so extreme to get moving! Any ideas anyone! maybe on where to get a manual on amphicat repair and adjustments?

Depending on what tranny you have you can check out my galleries. I have a parts manual and a owners manual. I'm pretty sure in the owners manual it shows how to adjust the tranny. The pictures uploaded out of order so it may take some searching.
485 twin? Really?? Sounds like a chain snapper to me. Good luck.

I hope you like the amphicat I also have one around 1970. Mine a had a 440 kawsaki twin in it. I drove it once an seen it was too much. 2 of my axles were bent. I just came across the original sachs motor for mine. They are a lot of fun though mines in pieces now getting restored. O an I had to rev mine way up to move with that twin cylinder motor in it also. Only way to adjust it I believe is to change the spring in the clutch
