  • SPD Tricart storage hut

I have just acquired what may be the rarest of all Tricart accessories... a storage hut made by Sperry Rand - SPD. It is the familiar SPD lime green and it still has a fossil of the SPD decal on the front which I think is the same as the rear Tricart decal. It needs a little help, but pretty decent shape considering it's age and living outside it's whole life. It's bolted to a wooden platform for now, but ultimately I'll put it on a concrete slab. It would be tight, but I think a Wedge would fit it there.

doood, awesome score! They just started making those kinda things again. The huts that is. And not by SPD either..lol But i seen a few for bikes N stuff within the last year or so. Its pretty neat. As you said, put a pad under it and tadah..your very own little shed for it. Be nice to have out in the yard, with a lock to keep out the hooligans!

That is too cool. It looks like it is fiberglass? Does it bolt together?

Each shell ½ is 1-piece fiberglass. It's only bolted where the "door" pivots. There is a flange around the bottom of the fixed side to fasten it to earth. I actually got 1½ pods in the deal... 1 complete and 1 fixed ½. The "door" of the other one was lost in a storm years ago. They had no idea where it ended up.

Thats a neat artical. Too bad winter is so close it would be cool to fab 4 or 5 of these up for my entire motorized fleet, so the garage could be set up as a proper shop. Maybe if I tell the wife its so she can park in the garage she'd go for it. I can only imagine how pissed she would be when I stuck a project machine in the middle of the garage

Instead of the movie "holes" you could make a movie called "humps" and not an Xrated version either! lol

That's awesome! I knew there must be some documentation out there, but I don't have anything in my library and I haven't had a chance to talk the SPD old-timers that I know yet. We may need to negotiate for a nice photocopy of that piece... same deal as we made for your spare engine, right?

WE are becoming the SPD "Old Timers"

I think this may have to cost you more than two beers, eh? LOL. This may cost you and your wife a trip to Wisconsin.
