  • Coot axles/torque transmitters

    Guys,
New to the site, My name is Mike Green from Durant, OK. I am a shop teacher in Denison, TX. I did some trading for a coot to use as a shop project, we got it up and running and the torque transmitter bearings seized and it chewed up one of (maybe two) of the bronze drive gears. Sooo, I am looking for parts, I haven't had the gear boxes open yet, but can some one tell me some things.
    1. Is he bronze gear is the same for all years
    2. Are the axles the same from year to year (mine is 4 wheel steer with square axle stubs up in the tub)
    3. are the front and rear torque transmitter boxes interchangeable by flipping them 180 degrees.
    4. Any problems getting bearings or parts to rebuild boxes (I know about how hard to come by the bronze gears are)
I have my own lathe and mill to make small parts.
THanks for your help in advance.
    Mike Green

Hi Mike, welcome to the site. There aren't a whole lot of coot owners here on the site so you may have to wait a couple of days for someone to chime in with coot specific answers. If you don't get a response in a few days, reply to this thread again.
