  • Scrambler rebuild/resto drive mechanism

    Hi everyone,

I purchased an action age scrambler for my son that is in need of complete rebuild on the drive mechanism. I need to rebuild/replace the hydraulic cylinders and have all the brake linings redone. Does anyone know of where i can get new cylinders or who will re-line the brake mechanisms ?

Check with your local brake shops. You should be able to find one close to you that will be able to reline them for you. For the cylinders, I don't have any experience with those but if you tear into them you may find that the seals you need are just standard sizes. Perhaps someone more familiar with them can chime in.

I rebuilt my own brake cylinders just used emery cloth and kept warm water flowing in utilty tub while doing it.Like wet sanding.I got new seals from accuseal in clinton twp michigan they are cheap and an odd size.I relined the disks myself with material from mcmaster carr and jb weld to hold it on.Everything works great with a 16hp engine.

just got the re-lined brakes back today from the brake shop. They look great. I started cleaning up the aluminum little block shape cylinders thet seem to have a sleeve (seal?) around the piston. Is this the odd seal you mentioned, and if so, would you happen to have the part number ? Appreciate your reply. Cant wait to get this thing going soon, i know it is still a ways away, my unit is all there, just in need of a complete overhaul. Still have not touched the round shaped cylinders with the spring inside.
