I just wanted to respond to your thread to bring it back to the top. There are not very many predator owners out there so you may not get a response. There happened to be a Predator at our last 6x6 World ride in Goldsboro, NC. It was just coincidence that he was riding around there. We invited him to join the site but I don't believe he ever did. Other than checking out the outside of the vehicle I didn't get to see it in action.

I think a lot of the basic stuff applies to all multi-wheeled vehicles. Check out the Used ATV Buyers Guide for simple tips and above that, make sure the hydraulics are operating properly with no leaks. Take it out for a drive and make sure it doesn't overheat. I'm excited for you. Good luck.

update I am in Calgary helping work on this predator the guy claims they only ran two tanks of gas through it and most of it was idling. It never seen water or large amounts of mud. The frame setup is very heavy duty. The chain tentioners are actually idler sprockets with adjustments the guy screwed up cutting out the upper tub from its mold so he is going to buy a new one and I will help him with it. The thing we are working on today is setting up the cooling system he mounted the fan on top of the rad pushing air down towards the engine rather than sucking air up out of the engine compartment I am not sure which is better but I can modify it if I bring it home. So in the morning we are going to take it to a car wash and clean it a bit then we have to go to another city to get the top then work on installing it, the gauges , seats etc. Then a good test drive

This is some thing to consider. Some one on another amphib forum asked about how the company that sold the Preditor handled their warrenty problems. This is a quote from a man that owns a Preditor 8x8.
Triton Predators seemed to be great untill you have a problem, To get the company to stand behind anything your on your own. There for I feel they should sell for alot less.
I personaly know that the body has a problem with cracking where the two body panels are put together and the company feels it is to costly to repair it, so much for a warranty.
If the company would wake up and make a thicker body this could take care of the problem. Maybe they need to look at a Argo, for half the price you get twice the body look for your self before you buy and you will see. I think for 28.000.00 you could buy 3 Argo's.'
This post was written by another man who also knows about the Triton 8x8
I work for a company that own 2 of the gas powered Tritons. They are not a bad machine, but I have had a difficult time getting parts here in California. They also do NOT work well in our marshes as they are to heavy and get stuck. They do work well in the pastures or areas where the water or mudd in minimals. I would suggest that the bottom pans should have a thin plate installed under all chains. If you lose a chain (which does happen) it will cut right through the floor.Last edited by mudbug3; 12-18-2011, 03:44 PM.

hi all I just got home I ended up buying the predator for less than half the price of a new one. The guy I bought it from screwed the cutting of the new top so he agreed to get me another one so we went to Edmonton to where the owner of triton lives and got the top from him. He says he is in the works with some people to start building it again not sure if it was true or not. As far as the to cracking it had a number of different ways it was cut to fit different engines etc. So I think I will be ok on that note. And for my personnel use of the machine is mostly going to be ice fishing in the summer it is mostly sand and muskeg around here.when I get a chance to start working on the new cover I will post a bunch of pics of the guts of the machine I know there are not any out there in internet land lol. First thing I got to do is change oil to synthetic get a new battery grease and lube everything then cut the new top to fit nice and install all the gauges and lights I have to make a custom engine cover as well the one that's on there is not practical.well I have to get ready to go to my real job I will start on my next days off will keep you all posted. I am aware that there will be a tone of different opinions out there but I want to here them all good bad and the ugly lol don't be shy. My thinking is hydrostatic and turbo diesel with extremely low hours for a third of the price of a new mud ox or a new predator I can live with a couple negatives.
