  • scrambler with fichtel and sachs engine

I just bought another scrambler from someone who has had it a long time knowing he would never get to it.It is all original but has been sitting outdoors forever. It does have boat numbers on the body and a michigan atv sticker from 1974.The question is why does it have a sachs model 5607662 it also says hub 3.68 and another mark on the engine says sachs sa370.It seems to be a 2 stroke single cylinder ???I thought scramblers me with briggs enginesOkay I have figured out that the sa370 means its a sachs 370 engine however according to the net this engine has like 24hp and was used in snowmobiles.I wish I had a camera, the setup looks all original.

Scramblers never came with these engines from the factory. The only 2 stroke that came in the Scrambler, that I can recall is a Canadian Curtis Wright 340 that came in the Scrambler 340, which was a somewhat rare racing model. Jerseybigfoot might be able to chime in and give us some more information since he knows (and used to race) Scramblers.

Used to race? Hey Jersey arn't you racing this year? And I was thinking this thread was a question for you too, although it wouldn't surprise me if LarryW had some good info as well.

one more thing I noticed is that instead of adding those clips for the adjustments of the brakes and turning there is a threaded rod with two nuts on each side to adjust.Seems much better than the clips because the clips could fall out.
