How many cases of beer will be involved in the steering fab. Make an appointment for a Lifetime alignment and show up with the Gaginator Gives a whole new meaning to "set the toe and let it go".

Wow. And I thought a springer was complicated. Hats off to you. It's looking good. I can't wait to see the steering box you're going to use.

So can we call that the low speed crash test?

            HAHA.. thanks guys.

The steering setup will be the true test... complicated, confusing and needs to fit between the diff and the frame.. hmmmm...

Are you using hydraulics for steering?

Put 4 rack & pinions in it, along with 4 driver seats and 4 steering wheels.

Something like that. I was actually planning on using 4 rack and pinions (but not four people - Roger :P) from where I got the strut towers from. Then group them in twos connected via the old steering gear (yes for this I need to flip one of them over vertically and horizonally), so that the front 4 tires are connected non-hydraulically, and same with the back 4.

Then the power will come from some steering box and connect to the elbow on one of the sides of the front R&P. Also attached to the same location will be a hydraulic piston which will transfer some of the power down to the rear assembly (setup the same way, but without the steering box).

Meh, thats the best I could come up with so far.... I didn't like my initial design.. I don't feel like modifying extra arms on the wheel assembly and I think there will be too much fab if I go that route.

I did want some mechancial linking if the hydraulics were to go so I didn't want a little piston network from tire to tire.

Thoughts are welcome! I'll see if I can draw something up and post it tomorrow.

                  Cheers,

                  Beeman

How about just steering the front and rear.

Check out the line of hyd. assist, andstand alone hyd. steering. I figured it would give you an idea, if not a resource for parts!

I was looking back at some old research and this is what the army does for their steering setup

                        Dang!

How about just steering the front and rear.
Yeah.. could do that... but that takes away from the cool factor!

You could use a Gear box that's ported for Hyd. assist, and only use one R&P. That would cut down on the amount of expensive moving parts to repair, or replace!

Using Hyd. for the rest of the six tires turning?

Well, I was on a plane for inuvik and decided to draw a bunch of pictures of all the different steering arrangments I could come up with... (to pass the time..). I liked the last one and I think thats the one I'm going with..
