  • is this a Hustler ??

Hi all I am looking to buy this " Scrambler " at least that is what the guy tells me it is. It looks more like a Hustler to me. Just wondering if someone can help me out with the ID of this beast..

They want 300 for it but all it has are the axles and frame ( that is in three pieces by the way. It looks like it came from the factory but its hard to tell cauz its not in the amphib. The body is in great shape. The upper and lower tubs are very solid.

    Thanks for the help.

      Yup, it's a Scrambler...........certainly not a Hustler.

Scramblers are fiberglass. Not rare at all, at least not in Michigan. If I remember right, they stared out being made in Detroit, factory moved to Toledo, then back to Detroit. With a couple changes in ownership mixed in along the way.

Action Age Scramblers were made in Cleveland, and they're not rare at all.......they're actually quite common. And yes, they're made of fiberglass.

The bodies are strong but the transmissions are only good for about 18 hp. The later axles are good material, early axles are mild steel (they have very heavy spring clutches). Badly corroded transmissions are hard to rebuild. The 41 pitch chain can be upgraded to 420. I have an original 12hp unit in excellent shape and runs well and lots of fun. climbs up hills and goes down the steepest hills with confidence due to its very low center of gravity and long wheelbase.
Your unit looks like a 1969 7 or 8 hp.
