  • What is it?

Went by a friends yesterday with my 8year old son. He yells "whats that little tank thing". Long story short he tells my son he can have it.
So... Anybody know what brand it is? It has a motor, not sure if it's locked up or anything of the sorts. My friend did say it doesn't roll so I may have to cut and replace chains.
Anyway. Here's the only 2 Pictures I took.

Yep, Larry is right on. It's a Sierra Trail Boss and there's lots of info on it here. You've come to the right place. Whatever you do, DON'T deal with Richard's Relics/ Route6x6 because you'll go broke paying his ridiculous prices for inferior quality parts. We here at 6X6World will help you get it back together with some good advice from some of the most knowledgeable folks online.

Thank you guys for the info! So.... In comparison to other 6x6's did Sierra make a good machine? Do they have any unusual weaknesses compared?
I talked to my friend and he thought the motor is a Koehler (or something like that).

I second that, there's a lot of knowledge rolling around among the members here on 6X6WORLD.COM. So whatever your issues, post a thread, along with adequate pictures and count the suggestions that come rolling in! The best price is always free. Along with your son, we are all anxious to see this "lil Boss" take to the trails!!

The biggest downfall is the small tire size that fits on that machine. The body is quite well made, its a shame bigger tires don't fit.

The second weakness is the transmissions....not that they are weak. The design allows for full speed forward to instant reverse....that takes one tough tranny to survive that once, let alone the multiple times a (say 8 y.o.) kid will try it when he discovers how much fun it is.
To be honest, it sounds like so much fun, I want to go buy one.

Just got a chance to go give the little beast a better looking over (a little easier when I know just a little more what I'm looking at). Here's what I found out:
The "drivers side" transmission is shot! It had been disassembled, and since looks like it was stored in a back room in the titanic. So... how hard is it to find, and how expensive will it be to find another transmission?
I talked to his brother and he told me that it ran great when they parked it 8 or so years ago. Problem is that the carb was covered, but the cover deteriorated. So I'm not sure, the vody was on, but I'm not sure if rain could have got down in there. The engine will not turn at this point. It could be freed up with a little pblaster or something of the sorts, and for all i know it could have sat with water in the crankcase.

first things first... transmission. I'm hoping for good news but fearing that it may not be.

Bad news on that transmission. Maybe you can find someone with one for sale. Or if not, you need a t-20 to put in it.
