Can anyone tell me anything about an ARKAT 6x6?

I've never heard of one before, and know nothing about them. I searched here and google and found only brief mention. Who made (or makes) them?

Looks like a duromax motor. I bet it is an older machine (1970 ish) and somebody has restored it.

A guy nearby has it for sale for $2000. Says everything is new, but he doesn't have time to put it back together. Might be an interesting project, but I'd like to know more about what I'm getting myself into. And the price seems a bit steep for a project, especially one that might be really hard to get parts for. Also, I worry "doesn't have time" really translates to "couldn't make it work". He says the motor is a new 30hp Kohler.

Might have bit off more than he could handle many dive in on projects full thrust but give up I would give up that is why when I get one apart I don't stop till it's done I don't know how rare this machine is but 2000 grand for one you got to put back together seems kind of steep

Personally I think the front end looks like an old ford gt40

That's a really cool looking machine. It must be fiberglass by the looks of it, so probably on the heavy side. Does anyone know what kind of transmission it uses?

I'd say that the $2k price tag is high, but it does look like it's in pretty good shape. Let us know what happens with it!

The one thing I've been able to find about the ARKAT is that they use the T-20 transmission.

$2k huh? Maybe not so bad, the body and tires look sound, a 30HP Kohler in running shape is worth some money too. What's it need? Maybe its not a bad sounding deal for a unique machine. It always concerns me when people say they don't have time to get something back together too. Usually something major has failed. He should at least be able to start the engine for you?

The motor in the picture IS NOT a 30 hp kohler.......what little can be seen is a blue gas tank and a black muffler. DuroMax 16 Hp., 1'' Shaft, Recoil/Electric Start Engine - XP16HPE XP16HPEXP16HPE_001 duromax.jpg
The kohler looks much different CH750-0008_1_ kohler 30 hp.jpg
Personally, I'd offer him $1000 cash and see if he takes it.
If if fact it did have the Kohler, the motor costs about $16-1700

They used the T-20. The picture you posted looks like a REALLY nice machine. Very clean and original. The wheel and tires, 22" Goodyear Rawhide IIIs are a very nice upgrade. If I could get this machine for a good price, I'd be all over it. Like Jim said, the motor is certainly not a 30HP Kohler though. Tomorrow I'll take a look in the History of the AATV by the late Mr. Sid Wallach of Recreatives Ind, AKA Max ATVs. He wrote some information on the Arkat and I think he even had a copy of the original sales brochure too.

hmm, comes with a 30hp kohler motor? Its not pictured, but maybe it does come with one?? As Buggyman said, Thats worth a couple bucks. it supposedly has a t20??...If it comes with one for sure and you decide to sell..thats worth a couple bucks too. I'd offer the guy 1000 bucks for it like buggyman said. Sure that a high offer, but the "Said 30hp motor" alone is worth that in MY opinion. Could easily be sold on ebay for that price if it turns out to be a complete wash! If it IS INFACT just the duromax, your lookin at about 300 bucks tops for motor. also id go over trans very meticulously. They ARE the best trans out there, but they can be costly to rebuild if you want to put the money into them...but there's ways around the high dollar rebuilds to get you by.
