All our prayers going out for all of those affected by this storm. Having dealt with Katrina (not too bad where I am) and Rita was still a class 2 when it went past us 40 miles to our west, then a couple years later Ike killed a cousin down in Texas, so we really understand what you are going through. Seems the worst part of all was trying to get gas for the generators. And what I'm seeing on the news shows how pitifully unprepared our government STILL is. I hope all our gang stays safe.
And for those who are in areas where looting is a problem... a 12ga maxed out with buckshot is an awesome deterrent when needed... just sayin
DESTRUCTION is just a couple of vowels down the street from DISTRACTION

Dang! that was some storm. No damage but lost power until last night when a 4 truck utility gang showed up to remove a downed utility pole and transformer blocking the street. Unfortunately my power came from the downed pole and the pole truck was diverted elsewhere. The utility crew came through and would not leave me as the only house in the neighborhood without power. Sometimes a convienient tree can act as a temporary pole to get you to a standing pole 200 feet away.
Now we have fuel rationing. Odd/ Even days and tags. It sucked in the 70's and still does. My daughter ,son in law and 2 month grand son are still on a generator but they don't feel very safe as slowly their neighborhood is being abandoned for a lack of power and no estimation of when it might be back.
We are thankful for what we have as many folks have lost everything. Thanks for everyone's well wishes and donate to the Red Cross if you can.

Glad to finally hear from you Jersey! Fuel rationing sounds like it sucks. Free market society says the one with the cash should get the fuel or at the very least allocate a number of gallons per running engine. The bigger the fleet the more fuel is required. It just so happens we all have more engines than the average joe.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

well it has been a long week. we just got the power back on and not a moment to soon, burned threw 100 gallons of fuel and if I had to go one more day with the generator I would have to start selling my toy's to keep it running. It's good to hear that everybody that got hit is doing well considering what we ware left with after the storm and I hope that all of you that have power out still, that it will be on soon for ya.

Good to hear from you JBF and Freq. JBF, I hope your family does well, and the neighborhood gets power before things go south. I haven't seen it to that point here, though I'm still opening up roads that were impassible as of this morning.

I have seen lines of 100+ cars, no joke, waiting for gas. Police stations are running larger crews so they can have a unit at open stations for security. There have been fights, usually over someone attempting to cut in line. IDK if they are rationing, more power is coming back on here so it's improving, but stations are still running out pretty quick. I fueled up my truck and filled every gas can and fuel can I have last weekend, right before Sandy hit. I should be good for weeks now that I'm not running a generator. Now they're talking about a Nor'easter storm. Maybe snow here next week. Hope it doesn't happen, Sandy messed us up but not like coastal NJ and further south in NY, but add heavy snow now, we'll be shut down for weeks at best....

All our prayers going out for all of those affected by this storm to. We where right at the line of the two winds, one from Mi off the lake and the other from sandy storm, the break wall stop all Lake Eires 15' + waves on top of the rise of water on the lake. The winds from Mi help to slow down the waves to keep them from breaking going over the walls. Thank God

Well that Nor-Easter was a joke. 4 inches of snow and a lil wind. Still kept me on for 24hrs straight. I'll take the OT gladly. (Could have done without busting a rib 3hrs into the day but S**t happens) No new issues here from it. I see some areas they don't think will see power again this year.... I just can't get over how wide spread the severe devastation was.... Thoughts and prayers to those still trying to recover.
