  • Does anybody remember this rig?

Several years ago when I was researching everything AATV, I ran across a link on Richard Clarke's website that is not there anymore. This was a manafacturer's website, located somewhere in the south.

This machine really interested me and I forget what the name was. It was a big machine, kinda boat shaped, and used hydraulic wheel motors at each wheel. I think it also came with a propeller. The interesting part about this machine was that you could vary the suspension height up to about 30". Anybody remember what this was, or better yet know anyone that has one?

I think I know the machine you're thinking of. It's name was "Extreme Machine" or something close to that. It had a pointy nose like a speed boat or something. There was a video of the thing raising and lowering on it's wheels and running through a course. There was a lot of talk about the thing and the guy was trying to get advance orders (and advance cash) and investments into the business. Rumors were that it was just a money-raising scheme. I don't know what ever became of it.

    That the one?
Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

Sounds like it...the video I saw was the machine raised going through some water and lily pads, 2 guys and a dog on the front.

I did not check into ordering one, don't even remember anything about the price. It did have a pointy nose, looked like a beast of a machine. I believe it had a diesel. So probably not many/none were ever sold??

I remembered seeing the video, and I was just curious what had ever happened and why I had never seen one again.

Yes , I remember this boat looking amphib that you are refering to . I clicked on a link on Route 6x6 , a long time ago , and went to the website and vewed this unique , amphibious machine. It looked a lot like a large , long , flat bottom ,alliuminum boat . It had a scissor like frame underneath it ( option ) that could raise the lower tub to a height of 30 inches . It had six wheels that were each driven by hydrolics . When I first saw this amphibious machine , I thought it looked VERY simliar to a large alluminum boat with wheels . It also had bench seats to the left and right ,that each had hinged storage compartments underneath . I also remember that it had a retractable prop at the lower rear of the machine . To retract the prop , all you had to do was pull back a lever , at the rear of the machine . This would cause the prop to be pulled inside a square compartment , at the rear of the lower tub. When the prop was fully extended out , it had a cone shaped , metal wire mesh guard . I really liked this feature . This machine was mainly geared for open bodies of water that were not accessable by a truck or car , when pulling a trailor . It was a VERY interesting machine .

          Hi,
it was the "Amphibitruck" but the site dont exist anymore.
You can see it at this link
          The Amphiclopy Am to An

It should cost about 12000$ and had a jetpump as option.

Good find..this was the one I was thinking of. Did a net search and did not come up with much. There were a few threads at Route 6x6, but that was about it.

The Triton and Hydrotraxx are pretty similar mechanically, I just thought the shape and variable suspension were kinda cool on this one.

                  Hi,
I think I have a few photos of the machine on my other computer. I will look for them and post.

I could not think of the name of the amphibious 6x6 you were asking about , until I was at work . After I came home to post the name of this unique amphib , I see some one else has already found the answer for you .
That is why I like coming to this amphibious forum board , because people here are so helpful with advice ,and also with answers new amphib people need .

I knew someone would remember it! JP didn't chime in...kinda surprised. He's prolly out looking for one to add to his fleet now. For some reason I always thought that was a cool machine. Wonder how many are out there?

This was my first "lottery machine", you know, the first AATV you'd go buy if you won. I guess now it would be a Land Tamer.....but Matt O. might change my mind on that when he gets that site up!
