  • Any gun nuts here

Just inherited a gun from my dad who passed a couple yrs ago. Trying to figure out the value of the gun. It is a K98 german sniper rifle from WWII. Do not have a pic at this time but can get one in the next few days.

Any ideas on the value....all markings on gum and everything matches....

Not sure.....May think about selling/trading for something of interest...

Mitchells mausers sells them. Shotgun news usually has some listed too. They have a reputation for having a great solid action /receiver as well as extractor. (I believe there were copy right infringement charges over copying its success.) Many were sportsterized after civilians and returning vets looked to hunt with them.(hard on collector value but not function).

being family adds personal value of course. Being numbers match helps. Where it was manufactured may be a factor too,(production numbers, quality, markings, or just collector desirability.) as well as if it were a sniper model which i believe still fetch a decent premium over the others.

Standard model last year in alleged great shape with accessories i think was around 399.00 up to 699.00.
Ooops just reread o.p. and saw sniper, dang it. More coffee then!
O.k. Guy, mitchells k98 sniper starts at 999.00? Thats collector grade and they go up from there.
Not listed under k98 but under ww2 sniper rifles. Not saying mitchells is going to determine value but is a start.
      Good luck.

The way times are going, I would hang on to it if you dont need the money.. guns/ammo are going up in value everyday, and are a great investment!
