That snake is huge. Not sure, but I think I would have had to try and catch that one. I remember seeing an ad in Outdoor Life (I think) when I was a kid offering $500 for ANY Rattler over 8' long and I'm pretty sure this one would qualify. Surely that thing would be worth a little cash... somewhere...

This rattler might be the world record holder.

Hmmm, don't know, I saw a picture of a one killed in Georgia some years back that was reported to have been "slightly over 10' and weighed over 150 lbs" always was skeptical when more precise measurements aren't available on a dead snake. I know the longest one I was ever nose to nose with was 6' 9 3/4" long, didn't weigh him though, and I was too busy trying to kill the thang to think about catching him. We met as my rt foot touched the ground while crossing a fence, nose to nose...

My brother used to go to the local rattle snake round up that was held in Round Rock, Tx. each year when he was young. He told me that eating rattle snake meat that had been cooked right tasted some where better chicken and fish. I've also heard from other people that have eaten rattle snake meat tell the exact same thing too.

He is holding the snake up towards the camera to give the illusion of length. That is about a 4 1/2 foot snake. It is a healthy one, but by no means huge,
