  • The leaf blower project ???

So, there I am, stood in the garage, as you do (it's a man thing I suppose), and I notice the leaf blower. Next thing I see (amongst the junk) is a length of drain pipe (down spout).

Now I start thinking, if you were to put these two items together with half a roll of tank tape, and then shoved the assembly over the back of your Argo and into the water (just the pipe dummy, not the engine), or other similar aatv, whilst it was floating, and revved the nuts off it how fast would it propel you?

Anyone tried it, or fancy trying it ? No lakes around here, just fast flowing rivers and I'm not that brave so I can't test it out.

I know it's a pointless exercise but it's all in the name of science so it has to be done.

Well, to every action there is an equal but opposite reaction. I think it would work. Seems like a really good idea. You could move it forward to back up. Seems like the ad for my blower claimed 80 mph. I don't think it would outdo the wheels in the water but somebody has to try this. I would try but no aatv as of yet!

I've tried it with with Stihl leaf blower that puts out 180mph jet of air. It did move it but slowly. I think you would be better off using the leaf blower to keep the cool air flowing into the engine compartment than for propulsion. I may have a bit of video from the attempt and let you be the judge.

I've got a Stihl, guess I misread the air output! Show that video, I still think it was a good idea.

Did you shove it in the water or just blow it over the back of the aatv?

I've let the air blow back and not tried the water jet technique, may try it this weekend.

Keep us posted! You may be on the verge of developing the new air-jet powered aatv. This could make you a rich man. Remember your friends here on the forum when the millions start rolling in!
