This thread topic has went in a whole different direction from Brandon's original post.

When did you see a springer fall a bit short in snow? And you make it sound like stock machines can't make it through some snow without tracks. Really? There are going to be a lot of bummed people this winter.
Agree, similar characteristics, but not the same. Apples & Oranges.
Getting the feeling that because we don't have mud & snow, that springers are a wasted piece of amphib. They're not for us. We post all our riding videos to SHARE, not to sell, because we love AATV's.

Sorry to confuse and slow respone. Controlled abuse is one thing. Out of controlled use is another. I have heard no stories of a springer catching a stump at wot etc and cartwheeling to some near death experience. Not that I want to but I have with quads, snowmobiles and even 6 wheelers. In my part of the country winter brings snow a little deeper than what tires can manage. 6" 8" of snow can be handled by a Honda Civic. We also have snowmobile nuts. They grass drag, ice race, pond skip and even run the 1/4 mile at NHRA asphalt tracks. Apples to oranges probably. I would think it might be interesting to see if tracks could work on a springer setup. Keith.

The mud that you showed the springer driving through is'nt what I'd call challenging mud. What I'm taking about is this: Will a springer be able to drive through mud like this in the video below? I understand that a springer kit on an amphib is to have a more comfortable ride, but , for the majority of off road riding that most forum members like to do, a springer kit is not that practical. This is why it's a very good idea to have different machines for different off road uses and that's the reason Brandon started this topic. The big tire RZR would have no problem at all driving through mud like this with 18 inches of ground clearance ,smooth lower tub, and taller tires to touch the bottom of the mud holes that our machines struggled through even with very aggressive , atv mud tires on them. These are modern machines not vintage machines. Brandon posted this thread to show a really nice RZR and not to start a heated debate. I made a post about this very unique Polaris RZR that I saw at the mud nationals and certain forum members turned this forum topic into some thing else. In the same context that each one of these forum member used, I used a springer kit on an amphib to make a counter point not to start an argument. Why can't we offer a counter discussion with out this being a heated debate about what machine is better? Each machine has a pros and cons.

                amphibious drew

This Big Tire Razor RZR would be able to follow your machine across a pond, knee deep mud hole, and not have a problem following jpswift1's ( vintage ) Hustler with ASX tires on it in any place that a springer could fit through. Plus provide a more comfortable ride with it's four wheel , independent suspension. If you saw this machine in action you would know this too.

If you start at the beginning of this thread you'll see who turned this thread negative and got way off topic. I have no problem with some one making a counter point, but why make it so negative? I only used your springer kit to prove a counter point to this discussion, not trash the springer kits for what they were designed for.

I think it's only natural to bring a springer 6x6 setup into any conversations about side by sides on this forum. Probably healthy. As I said before given the small number of them not as much data on how they perform here and there, but with luck and as time marches on hopefully there will be more and great stories and hopefully videos.

Yes, I think so too, if a unique Razor can swim, float, and has suspension for each wheel like a springer kit offers. This is also a very valid point to see how each machines performs in different off road situations.

Let's save Mike the server space and the headaches of having to moderate discussions like this, so if you really love your side by side go tell everyone about it on some side by side or 4 wheeler site and keep the discussions about 6 wheelers here. This is 6X6World and most people on here aren't interested in side by sides or quads.

Bringing up some stupid razor on here is like bragging about your Kia on any American truck forum. Furthermore comparing a razor to a springer is like comparing a Budweiser to a nice IPA. Sure there are more people that drink Bud than any IPA, but trust me, the IPA is way better. It's not some watered down piece of crap to try and please the masses. I said at the beginning of this thread that it was a great conversation for sidebysideworld.com. If there is a site, those would be the people who know and care about this over prices gocart, not the guy trying to get info on his new project amphib. As for this "my dream razor is better than your real 6x6 argument, if you like them so much, please, I beg of you, buy one and go find a forum that cares.

Finally, Mr. Hills, you want to know if a springer is right for you. I can tell you from watching your driving style, it is not for you. It's for someone that will crack the throttle every once in a while just to make some extra noise. They are for a driver that runs his/her machine throughout the entire rpm range of the engine. A springer that is never opened up past 1/3rd throttle is probably not going to be any fun until someone else gets behind the sticks. You don't want to just sit still and hope the gearing does the work.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!
