I have noticed that there are a lot of 6x6 for sail up north.and with gas prices i have to add about $500 round trip cant people in ga,or tenn,or sc sell some of theirs. I'm from buffalo and would hate to visit my family to buy one from Amphiman or any of you other guys in western ny. but we will be up there in july so maybe then. Visit family, pick up webers, hot dogs and 6x6 not a bad vacation.

What, no Whitehots or beef on weck?

Western NY does seem to be a hotbed of amphibious sales. I'm sure Recreatives has something to do with it, as do JP, Hmike, Amphiman, Eric, Dan, and anyone I may have missed.
Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

    (6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far

I believe most machines were built by companies in the northeast. Some other companies that built quite a few machines over the years were up north like Attex in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and Scrambler in Cleveland, Ohio.
There were only a few companies that built machines in the south or out west such as Hustler in Jonesboro Arkansas, Allis Chalmers Terra Tiger in South Carolina, Camel Centipede in Knoxville Tennessee, Sidewinder in Evergreen Colorado, and Chaparral in Denver Colorado.
When I lived in Atlanta I rode hundreds of miles into rural Alabama and Georgia on my sport bike in search of some old 6 wheelers that I might be able to pick up, but I never even saw one.

i am looking for the perfect first 6x6 and my favorite one is the poncin vp.the closest in apperance so far has been the sierra trail boss. one will find its way to my house soon.I can wait for a great deal.so my wife tells me she thinks they are just a toy,(yard work honey) you can't expect me to walk all the way across this 3/4 acre lot and walk to the mail box i think not

                    Hey Dave,

Maybe your wife and mine should get together. She wants to know where the smilie is with a strait jacket for me if I start another project.

Depends on what you mean by up North

There seams to be a short supply of them here in Ontario Canada even the over priced ones are selling faster then you can respond to the ad. It is great when you are selling one but bad when you are buying one. Seriously the prices I see used ones for around me I would just save up and by a new one. I consider myself very lucky to have bought the ones I did for the prices I got them for.
Why do we waste tax money on bridges and roads when we can all just drive AATVs

The pricing for used AATVs is not unlike the stock market. I've noticed that there are cyclical trends.

When I bought my first pair of machines, I think the community of people interested in these was much smaller. I remember only having to compete with Don at one point to pick up an Attex. I picked up 3 or 4 machines that were in decent shape for between $500 and $700.

About 5 years ago Dave C. stirred up quite a bit of interest in these particular machines with his website. The price of an Attex tripled! They stayed pretty high for a few years and then started coming down again.

Last year Mike bought this awesome site online and I've watched the membership grow. As the membership grew, the demand for used machines also grew.

It's the old "Double Edged Sword"...we want the hobby/sport to gain more exposure but in doing so, we've also begun competing with each other for the machines we want... so the prices are going up again.

Fortunately for me, I have enough machines (about 4) that I only have to buy more when the price is too good to say no.
