Tell them to "Kiss Off" that's what I did (nicely). Retirement means it's your time to do what you want, when and how you want to do it. If I want to do "Honey do's" I do them, otherwise they wait. Likewise, with family and neighborers. It ain't gona happen until I want to do it. Take charge of your life.....LOL

If you don't start being cranky now, how do you expect to become a truly crotchety old man?

I am 45 and been "retired" for 7 years already. The trick is you have to find something to do as a hobby so when some ask what you are doing then you always have an excuse not to do what they ask.....I also teach first aid as a sideline....Mad money....stuff the wife do not know about...pays for the gas for the toys...lol

Every time I see a post complaining about something relating to Mudd-Ox or more recently Max I text Matt asking him how his retirement is going. Considering he retired at 32 and started Mudd-Ox as just something to do by building 2-3 machines a year for fun I find it humorous. Some days he doesn't but then that makes it all the more humorous for me.

Retirement doesn't mean just sitting in a chair looking out the window with a tear in your eye. Retirement (or financial independence) is when life begins. Do stuff on your own time, if you choose to do it at all. One of my favorite blogs on how to get to FI or what to do when you're there is Mr. Money Mustache .
